Transit Signal Priority (TSP) tools adjust the timing or phase of traffic lights when transit vehicles are late or arriving in transit. The Transit Signal Priority program helps improve reliability and travel time, street time with long signal periods, and signal distances. In an urban environment, the benefits of TSP are greatly enhanced when implemented in conjunction with other strategies such as dedicated access lanes. The most common tools are described on the home page.

Scheduled work:

1. Stop the green light for an approaching transit vehicle for a few seconds

2. Red light restriction for a transit vehicle waiting in front of the light

3. Correcting when the green phase of the traffic light multiplies the arrival of the traffic vehicle Other

Importance:

1. Stop the traffic with a red traffic light, so that the bus stopped at the bus stop or station can more easily return to the road.

2. Working with certain bus signal-only phases that can help emergency vehicles or buses pass through traffic stopped at a red light.

Appropriate collective and well-planned configuration of the system, managed by traffic and road signal agencies. A well-designed TSP operating rules policy that includes information on equipment and its implementation to ensure system compatibility in all jurisdictions A review of geometric and operational factors including traffic volume and throughput, signal spacing, and signal period length.
